The Welcome Table is not a movement directed by one person, or even a collection of people. We all have a role in doing and being the church. Every person is gifted and called by God to participate in God's work in the world.
The work of The Welcome Table belongs to all of us. We are all partners in God’s ministry together. As such, each person is invited (or called) to participate in disciple development, missional engagement, and community building.
Disciple Development
Jesus didn't give his disciples a list of truths and say "Believe these things." He didn't give them a set of religious rituals and say "Practice these things." He showed them a way to live and said "Come, follow me." We are called to live the disciple life, allowing our faith to shape every aspect of who we are and what we do, individually and collectively.
Missional Engagement
When we commit to discovering and pursue God's mission in the world, it shapes our entire posture toward our neighbors. We are on the lookout for God in the world and seeking to join in what God is already doing there. We see opportunities to love and serve our neighbors and, at the same time, to learn and be shaped by them.
Rather than focusing on how we can attract people to become a part of what we are doing, we flip the script and move out into the community to engage in ministry with others.
Community Building
We are the gathered and the scattered church. When we gather - for worship, learning, connection - we find strength and encouragement to live the disciple life when we are scattered in the world.
We are committed to nurturing a deep commitment to one another, our neighbors, and our work together as God's people. Our gatherings ought to bind us together in deeper, more meaningful relationship with one another AND provide opportunities to build relationships across differences with our neighbors in Rock Hill and beyond.
